Puget Sound Vision Ocular Analysis in Tacoma

One of the most comprehensive vision screening exams you have ever experienced

Chances are that you’ve had an eye exam at some point in your life. You probably remember that each exam you’ve had varied depending on who is actually examining your eye. Some optical stores even have primitive robots evaluating your vision for glasses or contact lenses. Many high-volume LASIK centers offer free screening exams performed by technicians and an optometrist (O.D.) using a protocol to determine who is a good LASIK candidate. In these cases, you will only meet the surgeon (M.D.) the day of your surgery and never again afterward. These centers stay in operation by getting patients to undergo LASIK. Most of the time the patients do well, but often borderline LASIK candidates may actually have been better suited for a different vision correction treatment or none at all.

This is where Puget Sound Vision is different. When you see us, you’ll experience our Puget Sound Vision Ocular Analysis (PSVOA), a comprehensive evaluation of your ocular health. The PSVOA starts with our most advanced diagnostic technologies that measure your eyes from the front to the back. The entire process is painless and takes about 1.5 hours to complete, which includes a 30 minute discussion of the findings with our surgeon, Dr. Chan. Our goal in the PSVOA is to help provide you with a greater understanding of your eyes to help you decide which vision correction procedure would best meet your goals.

Should you choose to proceed with vision correction with us, the cost of the PSVOA will be deducted from the cost of the procedure. We do include one complementary PSVOA at one year after any surgery with us, and recommend yearly PSVOAs whether or not you opt for vision correction.

    PSVOA Frequently Asked Questions

Our PSVOA allows us to decide which vision correction procedure would best suit your eyes. There is a fee for the PSVOA, which is deducted from the cost of the vision correction procedure. Our goal in these exams is to determine your overall ocular health, and whether LASIK or any other vision procedure would help you meet your vision goals.

The PSVOA is valid for one year. If you decide to proceed with vision correction within the year, the cost of the PSVOA will be deducted from the total fees. In this case, we may repeat some parts of the PSVOA to obtain the most recent data for your surgery.
